Coining the genre "World-Americana", Big Hoax is a 5-piece band from Baltimore recognized for its soulful and high-energy performances of Americana music with a melting pot of cultural influencesA band that has seen nothing, but continuous growth since their start as a guitar-cello duo in February 2013 Big Hoax has performed alongside artists such as Mark Schatz of Nickel Creek, Little Feat, Delta Rae, Cabinet, The Steel Wheels, The Last Bison, Donna The Buffalo, and The Streets of Laredo. In the 2015 Tiny Desk Concert Contest, Big Hoax was featured as an honorable mention for their live performance of their song "Over and Over" out of over 8,000 band submissions nationally.
In a Q&A from FrederickPlaylist.com, Luke explained: “I write a lot of music that sends a message-I preach to myself in my lyrics quite often. People hear these messages and it creates community...It fires people up, especially live.”
They will be releasing their debut album "Mirror Image/Mirage" locally June 25, 2016, and regionally/digitally July 09, 2016. The rich 14-track album tells stories of lust, current world hardship, and determination. The album features notable Upright Bassist Mark Schatz, produced by Don Godwin and Luke Alexander, and Mastered by notable engineer Randy Leroy of Airshow Mastering.
