    Job Description
    Frostburg State University, University Advancement Division, invites applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Development Officer. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
     
    Part of the University System of Maryland, Frostburg State University is a public, comprehensive, largely residential regional university at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. FSU prides itself on being a dynamic, learning-centered institution with a diverse student body of more than 5,000. FSU is located on a scenic 260-acre campus in Western Maryland just two hours from Pittsburgh and the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro areas.
     
    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the FSU Foundation, Inc., this position is responsible for new donor development and solicitation of leadership level gifts from prospective donors (alumni, parents, and other friends of the University) in support of University initiatives including athletics, endowed funds, capital projects, student and faculty development, etc. Related duties as assigned. The successful candidate will support the University’s mission with an energetic and positive demeanor.
     
    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Professional or volunteer experience in philanthropic fundraising, nonprofit organizations, public relations, advertising, marketing, or related field. Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with professional colleagues, donors, and community partners. Strong work ethic and attentiveness to detail. Valid non-commercial driver’s license and willingness to work evenings and weekends, with extensive travel.
     
    Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education fundraising. Excellent interpersonal, writing, speaking, telephone, and conversation skills. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team. Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects on schedule. Computer skills to perform the duties of the position, including working knowledge of shared database systems and Microsoft Office.
     
    Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
