    Job Description
    Frostburg State University, University Advancement Division, invites applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Director of Annual Giving. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
     
    Part of the University System of Maryland, Frostburg State University is a public, comprehensive, largely residential regional university at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. FSU prides itself on being a dynamic, learning-centered institution with a diverse student body of more than 5,000. FSU is located on a scenic 260-acre campus in Western Maryland just two hours from Pittsburgh and the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro areas.
     
    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the FSU Foundation, Inc., this position is responsible for the implementation of a multi-faceted annual giving program, including telemarketing, direct mail, and crowdfunding. The Director develops and analyzes strategies for acquiring, retaining, and upgrading donors who make annual, repeatable gifts, and is responsible for driving greater participation by alumni, parents, and other friends of the University. Related duties as assigned. The successful candidate will support the University’s mission with an energetic and positive demeanor.
     
    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Professional or volunteer experience with telemarketing, direct mail, face-to-face solicitation, or related area. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including ability to clearly and persuasively articulate the University’s mission. Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with professional colleagues, donors, and community partners. Strong work ethic and attentiveness to detail. Willingness to work evenings with phonathon program.
     
    Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of direct annual giving experience in a higher education or non-profit sector. Familiarity with using metrics to develop action plans for growing philanthropic support. Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team. Ability to multi-task and keep multiple projects on schedule. Computer skills to perform the duties of the position, including working knowledge of shared database systems and Microsoft Office.
     
    Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
