    Job Description
    Frostburg State University, Counseling and Psychological Services, seeks applications for the full-time, exempt position of Staff Psychologist/Counselor. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
     
    Accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at FSU offers a variety of counseling and developmental services to address mental health issues and help facilitate the personal, academic, and career development of students. Confidential individual and group counseling services are provided by Licensed Psychologists, Doctoral psychology interns, and Practicum students. A part-time Psychiatrist provides medication monitoring services.
     
    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, provide confidential individual and group counseling services to FSU students. Perform crisis intervention services, outreach programming, consultation, training, and supervision of Doctoral interns and/or Master’s-level practicum students. Other related duties as assigned.
     
    Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field. Two or more years of experience providing mental health counseling. The successful candidate will be able to practice as a generalist, but have expertise or strong interest in one or more of the following areas: group psychotherapy, brief psychotherapy, grief, trauma, and/or substance abuse issues. Eligibility for licensure as a Maryland psychologist or clinical professional counselor will be required within 12 months of hire with successful licensure within 18 months of hire. Strong organizational skills and exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and flexibly as a member of a clinical team. Multicultural competency and the ability to work with a culturally diverse client population.
     
    Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field. Completion of an APA or APPIC internship and a minimum of two years of experience working in a university counseling center. Current licensure as a Maryland psychologist or clinical professional counselor (or the equivalent in another state) is a definite plus. Candidates with experience using empirically-validated mindfulness and other contemplative practices and an openness to the breadth of theoretical orientations practiced will be given strong consideration.
