    Job Description
    Frostburg State University, Office of Human Resources, seeks applications for a full-time, exempt Human Resources Specialist position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience; University System of Maryland benefits package included.
     
    Responsibilities: Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, perform a wide range of HR-related duties primarily supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of a qualified and diverse workforce. Write and edit ads for faculty and staff vacancies, maintaining consistency with current standards and compliance with job specs; set deadlines and post jobs on FSU’s online applicant tracking system as well as external job boards and publications as appropriate and affordable. Guide search committees through the interview and hiring process in a timely fashion; screen candidate qualifications, monitor reference checking, and conduct criminal background checks; route hiring proposals for approvals to extend official offers of employment. Assist with immigration process as needed for faculty hires. Develop, coordinate, and track employee learning and professional development activities; conduct research in support of training needs and development; serve as chair of committee to plan campus-wide training opportunities including an annual leadership conference. Also assist with various HR departmental initiatives, programs, and events, as well as serve on project teams and committees as needed. Other related duties as assigned. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
     
    Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field with two to three years’ experience. A demonstrated customer service approach along with strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills\proven ability to use discretion when handling sensitive and confidential issues. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
     
    Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in employment processing and higher education. Knowledge of Maryland wage and hour laws. PeopleAdmin and/or PeopleSoft experience.
     
    Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
